My epic session at North Shore 2-4ft (Hawaiian Style). A day that separates the men from the boys. Started at Hale'iwa and worked my way to Chun's reef then Sunset Beach. Psyched up listening to Rockstar and had my mugshot taken in waikiki coz i knew i'll be eating shit all day.

I dialed 596-SURF and heard pipeline was going off. Cars and trucks with boards were all over the highway driving up to the north. It was like Aloha Festival at Hale'iwa and all surfers were out and running towards the beach.

The lineup was still olright as compared to waikiki and lots of delicious wahines at Hale'iwa. I got worked at sunset but all is good. I don't know to explain what i felt that day...

Surfing in hawaii doesn't make you different... it doesn't make you a unique surfer... it's nothing to brag about.. it doesn't make you fucking special but the thing is you go back to the roots of surfing..

You learn the history of your passion and most important you learn Respect!!!
Respect for the sea.. Respect to Hawaiian surfers... Respect to a fellow surfer!!!
this is the surfer's code... If you talk shit and you surf like a kook then you get
beat up and are not worthy of being a surfer...

No politics, no posers, no kook just pure adrenaline and happy vibes surfing.

No wave is free. You have to work hard for it and if you do, you have to charge it and not hold back. You have to ride with passion. You have to give it everything you can coz you 've earned that wave and lots of people in the lineup could have done better on it.

Women in hawaii don't have priority over waves. They also work their way for it.

Each individual have their shit going on in the lineup but deep in their hearts and at the end of each session when they meet up in a bar, the aloha spirit lives on and everyone is family (ohana). I wish our Philippine surfing community would be as such coz only then would we be respected by fellow surfers abroad.

Spreading the aloha spirit !!! Stay stoked...

Rented a car for 3 days so i can go north shore hawaiian style. Had a 6am surf session at Public's before heading off for Haleiwa which was roughly an hour away. Sunset beach was breaking perfectly. Lunch was served at a shrimp truck back in town for $11 (shrimp scampi) .. really tasty...

The North Shore Marketplace was really beautiful with all the classic shops and restaurants. After-lunch session was at Ali'i Beach Park again and around 3pm i decided to go to the opposite side of the island which was Diamond Head :) Went to Lighthouse and Cliffs to check it out but wind was really not cooperating with me so i ended up having a sunset session at Queen's.

Driving is easy and it would really be difficult to get lost not unless you are really thick. You can get directions from Mapquest and it will guide you through the routes going to Haleiwa. Having a map of Oahu's surfspots would also be helpful....

"Honeymoon Drop in Marky!" Hitched a ride from the newlyweds Ana and Doug towards untamed North Shore. I was absolutely speechless as we entered Historic Hale'iwa Town and i owe it all to the couple. It was a different experience being there and watching the coastline... And the christening of my new 9'0 phallic board at Chun's Reef ;p

I got dropped off at Jocko's but it wasn't happening. Lani's on the left wasn't happening either so walked a bit to the right then saw it breaking at Chun's reef. Nice offshore winds and crowd wasn't as heavy as waikiki. After a few hours of surfing was so hungry but there were no food stalls around. Having a car at the North shore is a must. Buses do not store surfboards. It was a long walk towards Haleiwa, a couple miles to be exact. Luckily i was able to hitch a ride from a friendly surfer and got off Haleiwa Joe's... After my late afternoon lunch i noticed that there was a beach behind the pier so i reckon there might be waves on the other side. I decided to walk towards that area and i found Ali'i Beach Park, which was my fave spot for the next 4 days :)

I eventually rented a car and spent my next few days on a crazy roadtrip to the North Shore....
