Surf paradise just 7 hours away from Manila..... bali video.wmv (8.7 MB)
| | Firstly stop was Mengwi, to visit the magnificent royal family temple of Taman Ayun (XVII century), surrounded by an artificial moat. Next was Alas Kedaton; the flying foxes and monkey forest. . Last stop was the Marine Temple of Tanah Lot; this lovely temple was built on a promontory offshore, truly a perfect setting to watch an Amazing Sunset... |
| | More fotos of Lorraine's bday at Kuta beach.... their last night in bali.... |
| | Another wicked local reef spot... 40 mins away from kuta and basically isn't located in Sanur... Lots of shortboard japanese in the lineup... Had a slight ding on my nose while escaping the sets hehe... Was the only funboarder prick catching waves :) |
| | Fine, hot, sunny day to go surfing at Sri Lanka with Julie and Carmen. Julie is an indo local surfer being sponsored by Surfer Girl apparel. Mode of transportation going here is by driving a scooter.
Sri Lanka reef is an epic during the dry season but don't get too excited coz the paddle is roughly 500m. towards the lineup; so imagine barrels consistently pounding you the moment you enter the water.
This spot is normally featured on FTV's lingerie shoots :) If you're lucky you might catch a glimpse of their foto shoot, but be careful on drippin a wipeout on your boardshorts :P
Nusa Dua stoked dreams :) |
| | After spending a night at Mercure Kuta, I decided on having a roadtrip to Uluwatu Reef and eventually booking 2 evenings at Uluwatu Resort.
Before i go further here are rates you have to be aware of:
9000 Rupiah = 1$ Taxi Ride from airport = 40,000 RP Mercure Hotel = 70$ Uluwatu Resort = 85$ Scooter Rental = 30,000Rp/day Surfboard Rental = 150,000Rp/day Car ride from a local going around Uluwatu area and Dreamland = 200,000 RP A bottle of Arak (local liquor) = 80,000 RP a bottle Aqua Mineral Water = 1,500 Rp Nasi Goreng = 7,000 RP Beef Satay @ Made's Warung = 30,000 RP Entrance @ Double 6 Club = 60,000 Rp Bintang Beer @ M Bar Go = 15,000 Rp
Important rates: Gudang Garam 16 Sticks = 7,500 Rp Durex Featherlite Condoms = 8,000 Rp Hot White Meat grinding you all evening = FREE
Everything in Bali is just bloody marvellous. Dreamland is another surf spot that is slowly making itself known worldwide. It is right beside Bingin and Impossibles. Not much people at the lineup. The beach is bikini bum paradise; the perfect place to find the tiniest bikinis you can ever imagine. And they would gladly hand you a bottle of suntan oil to rub on their yummy sticky bums... :P
Uluwatu Reef was just unbelievable. Access is through a cave on bottom of the cliff. I can't imagine surfing in this spot during the dry season coz i reckon waves would be 15 - 20 footers. Left-break and just blatantly shallow. You can see the jagged reef waiting to leave a mark on your body. Booties would be highly recommended unless you are absolutely stupid and crazy. Paddling can be such a mission but once you get out to the lineup everything would just be fine, though don't ever dream of getting a wipeout. You can hear the waves continuously pounding morning until evening just below the resort i'm staying at.

| | 10 days @ the perfect tropical surf paradise. Part 1 of the Bali series :)
Kuta, in addition to being known for its glorious sunset, is also the centre of much of Bali's nightlife as well as offering a great selection of shopping and restaurants. ----> Surfer Girl Crossing !
